AC Milan Set To Sign Robinho As Manchester City Star Arrives In Italy For Medical

AC Milan are close to sealing the transfer of Brazilian star Robinho from Manchester City after the striker arrived in Italy for his medical.

The Brazilian international touched down at Malpensa airport around 12:20 CET and was shown arriving at the Gallarate hospital and signing autographs for fans as he prepared to undergo a medical in the presence of Milan medic Armando Gozzini.

The results of the medical will be crucial in ensuring a possible permanent deal worth €15 million. Milan are still hoping to sign the striker for less due to their financial difficulties but if they are successful, it would be the Serie A giants’ second major signing within the last week, after former Barcelona star Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined over the weekend.

There are also reports that Robinho’s switch from Eastlands to Milan could still depend on the Rossoneri getting rid of Marco Borriello. The striker is wanted by both Juventus and Roma but has yet to make up his mind over leaving the club.

Should Milan be unsuccessful in persuading Borriello to leave, Robinho’s transfer would have to be called off. However, sources in Milan have claimed that the deal would instead then go through in January, possibly due to cashflow issues.

The sight of Robinho going through with his medical is also likely to increase confidence amongst Milan supporters that the deal is about to be completed. Meanwhile, the former Santos star has also declared that he would like to win the Scudetto with Milan and is looking forward to the challenge.

“I am happy. I want to play with Milan because they are an excellent squad,” Robinho said.
